Open North American Championship Sled Dog Race

Mushers of all ages, with teams of many shapes and sizes come from all over to compete on the trails behind the Musher’s Hall on Farmer’s Loop Rd. It’s an exciting gathering that brings showcases the unique culture we enjoy here in Fairbanks.

Hoping for warmer weather by mid March but I’ll be out in the heated vendor tent, on Saturday only, with some items geared specifically to those of us who enjoy solitude on the trails and the company of 4-legged companions.

Southeast Alaska State Fair

I am lucky enough to have visited Haines, AK a few times since moving to Alaska. My last visit was to catch the Ferry to Skagway in order to hike the Chilkoot trail but it coincided with the SE AK State Fair and I have to say, this is the most grass-roots, fantastical state fair in the land. I am excited and a bit overwhelmed at the prospect of scootin’ down there to peddle my wares but it is going to be an awesome adventure. Haines is such a lovely place and this fair brings folks from all around (I know I’ll see some fellow Fairbanksans down there). Aaahhh! I can almost smell the seaweed, camp smoke and local beer!

Design Alaska Wild Arts Walk

This will be my 4th year participating in the Design Alaska Wild Arts Walk and it is a wonderfully laid back and pleasant event. Many artists are spread out around the grounds at Creamers Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge and proceeds from the art auction and a portion of our sales go to the Friends of Creamers Field organization to promote conservation education and help support the refuge. So far I have been in 3 different spots and 3 different types of weather (hot, rain, wind). I can think of a few more types of weather to try for but most of them I prefer not think about. Hope to see you there! This is the one show I can bring my dog to so come by and meet my Rhonda!
